And I thought it was just me
Seriously lately I have been having a lot of trouble with my pets holding agro, I figured this was because of the following factors:
• I just respected primarily as a Marksman
• I acquired a new bow
• I added some new purples and gems to my equipment mix-up
I’ve also been running around leveling a new baby-pet for DPS purposes. A pet that had no ability to hold agro or tank – so having the mob charge me as I burn it down and finishing the fight with a clip, a backwards jump and a last shot has become the norm.
Yes I noticed that I have had to regularly visit the AV battleground to get my allotment of mana biscuits before I hit the great outdoors and the daily grind because of the amount of water I was going through to mana up after fights … but I figured this was because of the new spec … and all the burst damage I have been putting out because my pet can’t tank for me without misdirect these days.
But come to think of the new spec is meant to save me mana on shots … and I do run with aspect of the viper on for the most part. Then I notice my tanky lvl 70 pet also requires a misdirect to keep the nasties focused on him… and BRK mentions his cat coping it a bit more than usual since the patch… so I poke around and find the following WoW forum posts on growl not working properly, a quiet nerf to boar charge and general hunter trouble all around:

*insert a small daydream about epic level 70 pet gear (BLING!) with resilience and crit and AP and dodge and defence here* to fix the problems ^_^
EDIT: Mania’s Arcania does a nice summary of this issue http://www.maniasarcania.com/2008/03/31/patch-24-hortus-on-aggro/#more-531
