Went out and trapped me a Dire Raven.
No unfortunately he don’t look anything like the image above (but I can dream), looks pretty much like a NE basic flight form , I figure I can perch him near my druid buddy and they can “caw-caw nevermore” at passersby outside the Aldor bank for kicks.
Been such a long time since I have eyes-of-the-beasted a flying pet it feels strange to maneuver him around. But he is working out rather well. It’s a bit on the noisy side, but either blizzard has fixed the growl issues, or screech really is that good at helping maintain aggro, but my aggro issues have practically disappeared. Whatever – me thinks I no poke this gift horse in the mouth.
However this means that with the lion for DPS & utility in raids and PVP and the carrion bird for solo farming & tanking, my third stable slot (currently filled with warp stalker) is kinda just dead meat … I mean the warp was my tank pet – but now he barely sees the light unless I feel like wowing young hunters with my whole “I’m lvl 70 and own a weird arssed pet” shebang.
Thinking of dropping his pretty green butt off at a nice swamp (swear he is a water dwelling animal despite being found in the nether) and picking up one of those high level scorpids in Shadowmoon – the little gold one was growing on me.
having never had a pet with screech before, I would suggest to those hunters now getting one that they go play with the clefthoof herds in nagrad, and learn how to manage aoe aggro… I’m still working on it. but it does make farming clefthoof faster, assuming you don’t get squashed in the process…
Hmmm that’s not a bad idea at all.
The testing of what effect screech has when it comes to surrounding mob aggro – for instance can it rival mend pet if given a bit of time to build up?

I don’t know… I’m too busy trying to kill the clefthoof and keep mend pet up!
but when this raven is 70/6, I want to take it to the black temple and try the AOE on the supplicants for farming purposes.. (insert evit grin here)
hee hee on the AOE farming – actually I was watching pally friend do just that … he has it good for a tank spec – he was gloating about how the side with the elves was better because they hit faster and thus killed themselves faster – wish I had a tank pet with a similar attack
Does Rage of deviantart know that you’re using her image here? I dunno if she’d be overly mad about it, but if she is she could use it as art theft. :: shrugs::

Incidentally my bedroom walls are covered in deviate art printouts – I’m working on the ceiling next, absolutely awesome site, even slightly better than good old Flickr.
sigh everythings about lawsuits these day – yay to the money god eh. Happy I am non-profit, non commercial joe blow – people just tend to yell abuse at us.
