Weird – sporeling snack my new pet rescue device?

You know how sometimes you need to pull aggro from your pet because it’s dying under 3 or so mobs and taking more damage than mend pet is healing? And you are pretty sure you can stand to take a few hits while he heals up and then drop the aggro with a well timed feign? But you pop distracting shot and it’s not giving you enough aggro to pull em off.

Well I stam buffed my pet with a sporeling snack (he was previously unbuffed) and those suckers charged right at me. Nothing showed on Omen. Went out and tested it a bit and a lot of the time (if pet was previously unbuffed) even if I hadn’t shot one damn arrow the mob would charge me – sucker was hard to pull off me too. Of course if he had uber threat I wasn’t getting squat so the distracting shot and the mend could have added up with the original scenario.

Didn’t always work – On the other hand I hear potions give aggro lol & it’s kind of a similar process.

  1. [...] Great Green Hunter ran into some interesting aggro behavior with Sporeling [...]

  2. it works with the kibler’s bits to.pretty much every time i’v used them when my pet was fighting they pulled aggro to me…

  3. Damn glad you commented hyena :) – thought a little that maybe I was imagining the whole thing!

Heh, well I guess in emergencies it is probably something I can keep on my list of ‘might help’ actions – awesome.

  4. As an orc hunter, I have found that popping the racial will pull the adds to me. It’s quite annoying when you don’t want it to happen!

  5. I’ll have to test that :) – have my racial tied to a trinket and some drums at the moment tend to use it more in PVP and instances (heh with a pally tank) so I have never noticed.

What I am wondering is whether carrion bird screech will override all that like it does with mend pet aggro? happily I have one in the stables.
