The pet history of Fessran
A history of pets including my current burden of beasts from my main.
Unfortunately with the fact some of my favourite beasts have become unviable for play at times and I don’t get to keep them in my stables due to lack of space. They will still be listed below but I will indicate who the current sidekicks are.
From level 10-13 Fessran had a black worg that was tamed in the forsaken lands and dubbed Reaper. At level 18 we fully intended to trade up to a slavering worg from SFK for the superior attack speed.
…………………
However at level 13 we were beaten bloody by Gorefang five times. We came back and tamed the sod. Gorefang, renamed Kiba, stayed with us until level 42 … when Snarler of Feralas decided to ambush us while we were on a bear taming mission.
…………………
We named him Reaper again but a patch glitch allowed me to rename him Reaver in honour of the Firefly series further down the road. We were chuffed to discover at level 60 that all the NPC orcs in AV had the same wolf - it made us feel very military. However by 70 it was becoming obvious in dungeons and on the battlefield that having a sub-par dps pet was impacting on our ability to deal damage as a BM.
Reaver
Level 70 Black Wolf
Tamed beast: Snarler
Trained Abilities
Bite ( Rank 9 )
Dash ( Rank 3 )
Furious Howl ( Rank 4 )
Growl ( Rank 8 )
Great Stamina ( Rank 10 )
Natural Armor ( Rank 5 )
Cobra Reflexes
Avoidance
Arcane Resistance ( Rank 1 )
Fire Resistance ( Rank 1 )
Frost Resistance ( Rank 1 )
Shadow Resistance ( Rank1 )
Pet Health: 6427
Pet Armor: 9332

Notes: When this screenshot was taken I was trying out rank 1 in all resists to see if it helped in PVP at all. (We all know 2 levels in the appropriate resists can really add to a pets survival when raiding and doing instances - the opinion on the use of resists in PVP is a little 50/50.)
I found that in fact it was preferable to spec higher in 1 particular field and then target an appropriate class all Battleground … like shadow and warlocks - bwahahahaha. Once with the highest Arcane resist I took on a mage … who must have been trying something … arcane on the pet (I forgot to check the battle log) because this here wolf kept flashing IMMUNE on his portrait - this was a wonderful moment for us both.
Reaver’s resists have always interested me in particular because he is an original old world pet from before the massive pet changes. I caught him when it was all about pet attack speeds and unique abilities. This wolf would originally came with and even after the patches would occasionally pop that +100 to all resists and I was always wondering if they actually did anything or if it was simply a screen glitch.
I would consider this wolf to be my main pet even though I have since had to retire him for more appropriate dps types.
Wrath
Level 70 Black Lion
Tamed beast: Humar the Pridelord
Trained Abilities
Claw ( Rank 9 )
Dash ( Rank 3 )
Prowl ( Rank 3 )
Growl ( Rank 8 )
Great Stamina ( Rank 8 )
Cobra Reflexes
Avoidance
Nature Resistance ( Rank 5 )
Pet Health: 6835
Pet Armor: 9708

Notes: Aye everyone has Humar at 70. I really did not realise this, he was chosen because the coat colour was the closest I could get to the colour of Reaver’s fur, and sadly that is the pet he was tamed to replace.
His name Wrath was chosen firstly because it is the name of a familiar in an RP game I used to play whose one skill was ‘eat anything’ … and that he did: levelling a lvl28 pet to 70 required a tonne of pet food. Secondly by this point I was experimenting with the MM spec and thus the name Wrath seemed ironic. No very forward thinking of me because I am of course back to playing BM and now his name just seems a little lame.
(My gear was better so the health and armour stats will vary somewhat – the nature resist is in place for air primal farming.)
Thing
Level 70 Green Warp Stalker
Tamed beast: Warp Chaser
Trained Abilities
Bite ( Rank 9 )
Warp ( Rank 1 )
Growl ( Rank 8 )
Great Stamina ( Rank 11 )
Natural Armor ( Rank 8 )
Shadow Resistance ( Rank 1 )
Pet Health: 6677
Pet Armor: 9677

Notes: At the time of this screenshot we were off killing things that did shadow damage - thus the shadow resist. A normal talent spec for the warp would have been as much stam and armor as possible.
The warp was originally selected for the sheer novelty value of having an ugly outlands pet. She took up a tanking slot and ousted an old dirty-white worg by the name of Kiba (who used to be Gorefang of the Forsaken lands), this was a pet that I had been unable to level with me and my main wolf due to the harshness of the old pet exp system.
Thing in her time has even tanked a actual dragon, and was moderately good at warping up AV towers to kill archers. However yet another game patch affected pet aggro management, she became unable to hold a mobs attention without the use of misdirect, I specced MM and aggro management became a primary concern. As such she was eventually traded out for a carrion bird with screech.
Funniest thing about the warp was how she matched my Valanos Longbow & Crystalforged War Axe.
Unnamed devil bird
Level 70 Carrion Bird
Tamed beast: Stormcrow
Trained Abilities
Screech ( Rank 5 )
Growl ( Rank 8 )
Great Stamina ( Rank 11 )
Natural Armor ( Rank 6 )
Cobra Reflexes
Avoidance
Fire Resistance ( Rank 2 )
Pet Health: 7392
Pet Armor: 10525

Notes: Still unnamed. Screech combined with growl has proved to be the best way to maintain aggro with a pet since they nerfed boar charge. a bonus is that with the area debuff mend pet will not generate enough aggro to cause any trouble.
